Privacy policy

TailorVitae (“we”, “us”) helps you tailor your CV to job adverts. A CV is personal by nature, so this policy explains plainly what we collect, why, who helps us process it and the choices you have. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact us at hello@tailorvitae.com.

What we collect

  • Your CV and the job adverts you paste in, plus your answers to our questions and any mock interview transcripts you create. CVs often contain your name, contact details and work history.
  • Account details if you sign up: your name, email address and sign-in method.
  • Purchase records: which pack you bought, when and for how much. Card details are handled by Stripe and never reach us.
  • Free-try limits: a random identifier in a cookie and a one-way, salted hash of your IP address, so we can limit free checks. We don't store your IP address itself.

How we use it

  • To provide the service you ask for: scoring, tailoring, fact-checking and mock interviews (contract).
  • To save your jobs so you can return to them, and to manage your job credits (contract).
  • To prevent abuse of free checks and keep the service secure (legitimate interests).
  • To keep financial records as the law requires (legal obligation).

We don't sell your data, and we don't use your CV for advertising.

Who processes it for us

We use trusted service providers, each bound by a data processing agreement:

  • Hosting and infrastructure providers, to run the website and store data.
  • Clerk, to manage sign-up and sign-in.
  • Stripe, to take payments.
  • AI service providers, which process the text of your CV, the advert and your answers to generate scores, rewrites and interview feedback. They act on our instructions and do not use your data to train their models.

Some providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement and equivalent safeguards.

How long we keep it

  • Jobs (your CV, saved versions, the advert and results) stay in your account until you delete them or close your account.
  • Free checks that aren't claimed by signing up are deleted after 30 days.
  • Purchase records are kept for six years for accounting purposes.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for it in a portable format. You can delete any job yourself from your dashboard. For anything else, email hello@tailorvitae.com. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Cookies

We save unfinished answers and CV edits in this tab’s session storage to help recover them after a refresh. Operational metrics record request status, timing and AI token counts, without CV content or answers. We use only cookies that are needed for the site to work: sign-in cookies from Clerk, and the free-check cookie described above. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
